According to Betsy Cohen, reporter for the Missoulian, Gov. Palin said, “God and family and country – take a stand in that order and things fall into place…Taking a stand for God is not always easy … but it is always right and worthwhile.” Gov. Palin continued, discussing her own family experiences, “God doesn’t give you anything you can’t handle….God shows us what he wants us to see.”

Gov. Palin occasionally waxed political, saying, “”The things they are doing in Washington, D.C., are absolutely whacked. They are upside-down.”

At the conclusion of her speech, Gov. Palin offered to match the final bid price of a shirt bearing her signature and donate the proceeds to Teen Challenge’s $450,000 fund-raiser. The signed shirt sold for $3500, the amount Gov. Palin matched with her donation. According to Cohen, the money will be used to build a new kitchen an dining room at Teen Challenge’s center.
