Blizzard has trademarked the name ‘Mists of Pandaria’. Is this the new WoW Expansion?

No one knows. But to see how emotionally tangled people are reacting and how some are foaming at the mouth over a video game expansion astounds me. Especially for something that exists only in speculation.

It’s highly probable that the new WoW expansion will be about a new hero class (with new races already introduced in Cataclysm). Since both Alliance and Horde want the Pandas, I’d imagine they’d be the hero race open to all. And since tanking seems to still be in high demand, having the hero class have tanking abilities would be something Blizzard would do.

Pandaria was a secret mission in Warcraft 3. It is probable that Blizzard would tap into Warcraft 3 or another Warcraft game for its expansion. Interestingly, everyone was betting on ‘Emerald Dream’ which seems a little weird After Cataclysm, it would make sense for Blizzard to desire to do something more ‘cute’.

With the final trilogy of Ultima, Richard Garriot wanted to give each box a certain color (Ultima 7: Black. Ultima 8: Red. Ultima 9: Blue). And we’ve seen from Nintendo that colored boxes can be a good thing (red for Super Mario Brothers 5).

But have you noticed all WoW expansions appear to have a color as a theme?

Green.

Blue

Red.

The box color would be different. The only primary colors left would be yellow, purple, teal, orange, and maybe black and white. Orange would be too much like red’s Cataclysm. I doubt they’d go with black and white. My bet is on yellow.
