.

I just have one question:
.

Now that Nintendo is going to focus more on the Wii U and 3DS, what’s going to happen to the Wii (or DS on the matter as well)?
.

Specifically the online portion such as the multiplayer, Virtual Console, and WiiWare?
.

I know the GameCube had little online with Phantasy Star, but the Wii is the first main Nintendo home console to fully support online.
.

Nintendo wouldn’t want to drop these people on the spot nor drop or all the titles they’ve put up on the Wii Shop Channel…would they?
.

-I still have not completed the online nor got everything in Monster Hunter Tri and I still want to play it even if the Wii U is out.
.

-I still to want compete in GoldenEye, COD, and Conduit online. (Activision just announced a Wii version of Modern Warfare 3) even if the Wii U is out.

-I still have WiiWare and Virtual Console titles I want to download even if the Wii U is out (but my memory is low right now from all the other titles I downloaded).
.

-Heck I still want to play Brawl online even when the Wii U is out..

Basically, I’m just having a fear that Nintendo’s suddenly going to drop online altogether on the Wii once the Wii U is released (or a few days after) and it’s going to tick of customers like me even more

because of all this missed opportunities that I never got the chance to experience like you have in your days (before the N64 I mean).
.

-EA shut down Medal of Honor Heroes 2 servers on the Wii and it will be only a matter of time before other companies like Capcom’s Monster Hunter Tri server to follow suit.
.

-Halo 2’s online service was still going (until recently) even when the Xbox 360 was out. (Star Wars: Battlefront 2’s servers went down sooner, I think.)

I just don’t want Nintendo to go into a new console development yet because there’s still customers like me (and you)

who want more to be done with the Wii than with that wannabe Wii-look-alike with an Ipad for a controller that Miyamoto and Iwata oh-so-happily want to make (the Wii U).
.
I think the long term support for the online was considered in making it for their games. This is why there isn’t much going on there online-wise. It is easier to upkeep.

I wouldn’t worry about Brawl or Mario Kart Wii until 2016. Not sure about Monster Hunter but that is Capcom’s game.

Nintendo would be stupid to stop the shop. The shop produces money for Nintendo.I’m not sure how much it costs to keep it running, but if you look how primitive the online shop is, it cannot be much.
