As been said before, Valve doesn&#8217;t want to create games anymore, they want to control games. people like to think that valve is a crusader of the indie scene. <p>That is a great link. BTW, there is no such thing as &#8216;Valve&#8217;. It is Valve Corporation (as Valve is a corporate entity and one who refuses to go public so they don&#8217;t have to have transparency).</p>
<p>PC gaming was MUCH  better without Steam. Steam has consolized PC gaming more than Windows 8 could ever dream.</p>
<p>When someone says they are &#8216;PC gaming&#8217; but do nothing more than open up the Steam client, they&#8217;re not really PC gaming. They&#8217;re console gaming using their own PC as the hardware (and the Steam client is the DRM). PC gaming is all about being an open platform and if there isn&#8217;t an option you like, you can code your own solution. It&#8217;s an entirely different experience than console gaming. But what difference is there between console gaming and Steam gaming?</p>
