You mentioned Nintendo should package in a game with the 2DS in order for it to avoid being seen as a ‘gimped’ 3DS. But what about a promotion by buying a 2DS and getting a free game? Nintendo has done this before with the 3DSXL and earlier this year. If you bought either of those you could sign to club Nintendo to receive a free game worth $40 or $50. Wouldn’t that accomplish the same thing? Also with Pokémon releasing on the same day as the 2DS I can definitely seeing this tap into the crappy 6-year old customer.

Yes. No doubt Nintendo will play the ‘promotion card’.

But the bundle in games… well, that is a subject for another post.
