<![CDATA[Arctic Ice Outlook]]>Early indications are that this summer will be quite different from the last two. 2009 and 2010 both had persistently above normal temperatures in much of Canada, which led to early melt in the Beaufort and Chukchi Seas.

Summer 2011 will start with considerably more multi-year ice than any of the last three years, and temperatures will probably be cooler. Romm may have to work very hard this summer to spin his cataclysmic message of “hope.”
