<p>For an engineer to keep his job, he has to be brutally correct and honest &#8211; all the time. Products and reality don&#8217;t lie.</p>
<p>For a scientist to keep his job, he has to obtain funding. This is generally accomplished by convincing politicians that something you want to study is important, and frequently involves exaggeration and/or fabrication.</p>
<p>This is what happens when engineers don&#8217;t do their jobs correctly.</p>
