Unlike this flitting news-elf, she has real focus, depth, and determination– and like many excellent conservative bloggers, she truly deserves a byline, and to replace some of the journalistic parrots and deadwood in the Leftstream Media.
So I’d suggest adding RBO to your blogroll & daily online diet, for quality writing and journalism that really help you brain more gooder.

Busted!” You know, like the alleged fudging of her ample expense-accounts by HRH Jenny Lynch, possibly to the tune of 100%.
Whoa, there. For the seriously reality-impaired, you’ve done nothing except proved you’re a hater, and not with the program. Our radicals are deeply invested in teh crazy, and so some deeply symbolic victory (say, a HRC judge rejecting the HRC principles as did now-heretic Athanasios Hadjis, or a high official caught lying, or fudging) just means that Athansios has joined the dark side, not that he was right, or that justice broke through, or that the self-contradictions of the HRC idea just imploded.. and that mean-spirited people have been picking on poor Jenny CHRC.
Silly ultimatist! Final victory or defeat will only be declared when the radicals achieve ultimate power, or they themselves are cast down. It’s a version of the laughable Baghdad Bob assuring reporters that the American tanks entering Baghdad were not in fact doing so, despite the non-Iraqi tank-shaped objects evidently doing just that. Victory is in the eye of the first person to stubbornly insist on victory, despite the facts. It’s a PR thing.
This is all a war on reality– that’s why when the Hadjis thing happened, and so many better bloggers than I declared victory versus the insane Human Rights Regime, that I held back in popping the champagne-cork.
As a former pastor in a Zeitgeist-y denomination, I’ve seen it all. In an ageing, bankrupting, theologically empty church environment, all sorts of denial, cloud-cuckoo master-plans, and clerical/ lay idiocy have free reign. It’s like that now mightily intertubed scene from Downfall, of Hitler ranting in his bunker near the end. Despite all teh funny subtitles out there on YouTube, he was actually ranting about his discovery that the little army counters he was moving around on his big map represented almost nothing on the ground– certainly not actual full divisions of men and tanks able to do anything or rescue anybody or snatch victory from the jaws of his micromanaged defeat.
The point? Teh war on reality is only won when the crazy people are fired or retired or imprisoned, de-funded, laws actually changed, crazy political culture swept aside, and lots of ordinary and important folk stand together and insist and insist and insist and insist that Canada is not and should not be like that. Such changes will not actually stop the reality-impaired from gnashing their teeth and not playing fair and stealing other people’s money to pay for themselves, but in will blunt the effect, and let the graveyards solve many of the problems we’re having in this chaotic and mad age.
Utopianism is a sick and evil false-religion– a modern plague of the last 500 years and more– and people must needs be converted, not reasoned out of their fanaticalism.
This war is not over, and we may lose it, but let’s stop pretending the radicals are anything but, or that they see reason, law, morality, or common-sense (and the people who hold to same) as anything but speed-bumps on the way to utopia-land. ~

For the ensuing, I proclaim myself amateur not expert on the Greek drama thing.. the rest of it is merely my usual screedy stuff.
~ WHEN THE GREEKS invented drama (a Greek word, meaning ‘to perform’), they knew something real and abiding about the human condition. Comes the tragic hero; then he gets prideful and overweeningly so (hubris= Gk. for insolence, presumption towards the gods); then comes revenging nemesis— the consequences, the downfall.
So invincible Achilles and his vincible heel; doomed Odysseus after thumbing his nose at Poseidon; Oedipus the nervous Rex; Creon; Agamemnon.. and on and on. Even the mythological Olympian gods are subject to this higher law.
In Homer, or the great playwrights Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides, tragedy has a specific pattern. Tragedy in this Greek sense (Gk. =”goat-song”) is not the colloquial “really sad thing that happens to a victim”. Rather, it’s more like “predictable consequences and suffering for the hero & everyone else arising from his decisions, actions, and attitude”, personified as vengeful fate.
Acts, thoughts, words, all have real-world consequences. No man is an island and all that.
President Obama had a set made for one of his election-appearances that provoked much mock amongst his critics, but which is also revealing: a classical platform, replete with columns. Obama is turning into a Greek tragedy, with the proBama interwebs and media as his Greek Chorus.
He’s not even heroic, but imagines himself one; his goals and notions of himself as saviour of a new America, righted from all her past wrongs and inequities is beyond self-confidence or ambition into crazy-proud; and the downfall, consequences and reality check are happening all around him– but he’s so blinded by pride and self-regard and his cheerleading chorus, he chooses to or pretends not to see it.
The sad part of this tragicomedy is that– just like the tantrums and final fatal fall of the warrior Achilles in the siege of Troy– the lives and well-being of a lot of ordinary schlubs (and around the world) are being affected by Mr. POTUS, much for the worse. USSA, 2010? No meaningful foreign policy; the Bully In Chief playing fast and loose with democracy and his office; massive unemployment, unimaginable foreign-held debt, and economic stagnation; the enemies of freedom given free reign at home and abroad; no real accomplishments to speak of, really?
Yep, O-Messiah’s a real hero. A hubristic Greek hero, going down. ~

My fave recent translations of Homer’s Illiad & Odyssey are the energetic free-verse Penguin editions by Bernard Knox, and Robert Fagles. For a good introduction to the shape and wisdom of Greek drama as part of Western Civ, read classics prof Anthony Esolen’s excellent 2008 book The Politically Incorrect Guide to Western Civilization (Politically Incorrect Guides).

Anyhow, I’ve loved and been overawed by space since childhood, and my father’s astronomy books, and his occasional telescope trips out past the light pollution. However, unlike the Star Trek universe, I’m not one of those interested in boldly going: while beautiful, it’s all big and scary and lonely and literally un-earthly. I look at Hubble-visions of giant gas-cloud or the rings of Saturn or the rocky barrens of the asteroid belt and shiver. Earth becomes that much more dear.
Aside from the strange-factor, there’s the radiation, gravity, unpleasantness of most planets we know about.. and the danger of actual space-travel. It’s a lot like sailing in the Middle Ages– keep close to shore, watch out for storms, don’t sail off the edge of the map, here there be dragons, and realize it’s all a big gamble.
And yet– there’s the music of the spheres– the angels and God himself are always and everywhere present.. space, like earthly life, is sacramental in a way. That’s why I prefer a TV-series like Babylon-5, which had hints of religion throughout, versus the socialist super-state of the Federation, where apparently religion– like crime, poverty, war, pollution, and all that ickiness of human life– had been mysteriously wiped out. Roddenberry had his neo-faith of perfectable humans going out to perfect everybody else.
Yet as we peer ever deeper into the universe in which we float, discerning new wonders, new planets, new glimpses into the ancient past, we’re finding it’s not so cut and dried as that scientific-cult 1960s would have it, nor is the ‘problem’ of humanity cured by experts. ~

Canadian troops have had a long history of disrupting various cultural traditions– in 2 world wars, Korea, and Iraq. If the alternative is paralysis in the face of evil, I choose our best efforts to improve things, carefully, and respectfully, but firmly. That’s what Canadians do, and have done since we became a full nation on the bloody fields of France.
Multiculti was never about more tasty potluck at the local folkfest. It’s a pus-filled Marxist scepticism towards all things Western, Biblical, Greek, and Roman. It’s intellectual & cultural suicide. Are aspects of civilizations or their customs good or evil? No possible answer, saith Multiculti. It’s all good, even when it isn’t. MultiCult is anti-absolutist absolutism, a bait & switch, a cheat. Nonsense which weakens a nation and her principles so that ‘change’ may be facilitated by the Masters.
After all, suttee is not only murder, it’s anti-woman and anti-human, however venerable the custom of human sacrifice may be.
Muslim slavery for sexual or other purposes is reprehensible, period. Sex-boys are people, with God-given freedoms and rights.. except in the evil system of warfare and subjugation known as Islam.
MultiCulti relativism is self-contradictory.. and in the real world, horribly cruel. General Napier saw murder of innocent women, stepped in, and stopped it where possible. Mother Teresa saw babies in the garbage, and built and orphanage.. then found poor people dying in gutters, and built a hospice and hospital. The Canadian government 2010? It sees no evil, hears no evil, speaks no evil, but condones it and forbids their own people from trying to make it right where and when they can, and speaking out openly to condemn the practice. Sex-slavery is wrong, but pointing that out is wronger, somehow.
Of course here at home, our officials are turning a blind eye to polygamy, no-go zones, public anti-Semitism, and terror-connected political Islam like the big RIS-8 IslamoFest over Christmas Week 209 in downtown Toronto. Hating, killing, raping, crushing women, conquering.. after all– it’s only their culture and custom.
So the lights continue to dim in the West, as we erase our moral and political freedom to placate barbarism and evil. There’s some crazy-bad insanity, for ya. ~

~ THE BLOGOSPHERE WAS AN ACCIDENT.. but once the technology showed up, everybody started to use it, not least for op/ed and non-mainstream news-reportage.
In the Anglican world, this blogger plus several others got all the news out fast & hot from various big events in the 90’s, where– for the first time– the world was online watching, real time. It changed the whole game, plus the rules. The gatekeepers of official church newspapers and press releases became weeks-old news carriers, and their spin became painfully obvious. Once, some big news might break, and months later would reach the pews and clergy. Not so much after the mid-90s. This blogger’s reportage even began to shape events, as Anglicans worldwide tuned in to see what was really happening, and behind the scenes, and at the time.
American elections have now been shaped by the internet, bloggers, and sidestream news sources; the counter-revolution to Obama is partly a web-phenomena; the decline and obvious lameness of the dino-media has come about because most people want news, not leftward endless spin.
The usual: power, and control. The post-60s Marxist turn to academia and journalism and politics was aided and abetted by the pablum-purveyors in the media, all singing from the same Big Lie songbook. Conservatives were a real political force, but culturally isolated, and depicted as a fading minority. Leftwardism uber alles.
The blogosphere is a novelty, but a serious threat to the power-mongers and would-be masters and shapers of all the little people. Now, the little people are talking back.. fact-checking, seriously thinking, and lots of sensible scholars and politicians and others have lent their skills to fight the good fight for Western Civ versus would-be controlled-media global socialist super-state.
Whether the free interwebs & freedom of speech and thought it engenders will survive far into the 21st century is an open question. Many people– from the U.N., Microsoft, the EU, China, and elsewhere would like to slap down the blogosphere, silence the ‘unofficial’ media, the whistle-blowers and rabble and scum like we feature on our blogroll who just won’t shut the hell up, bend over, and be a slave to Leviathan. The evil non-Left must be silenced, given no attention or media-time.
In all seriousness, this is not a conspiracy-theory, or mere caffeine-fuelled rant. Attempts have and are being made, pondered, bruited about at many levels. Watch for it, expose it, fight back against it.. indeed, merely by reading this blog criticizing the silencers, you’re already pissing them off. Well done, then. ~
~ O, TO HAVE BEEN A RINGING prophet of the ecotastrophe a few years back, when dollars flowed like rain, talk blew about like a tornado, and all stood rapt at the prophecies of imminent doom that we– we, evil humanity– was bringing about unto ourselves, and the bunnies, and the ecologically sensitive wetlands. Now? Not so much, actually. There’s silence, a veritable echo-chamber, the sound of experts who were branded heretics now being listened to, the evidence being re-assessed. Watch out for bandwagons, says this elf.
The problem with the climate cult is this: what about all the changes that might really be happening, and all the actual pollution out there? Global Warming/ Catastrophe Now is catchy and lucrative and big-govish, but who knows or is accurately reporting the state of the earth (whether or not we’re to blame, or can do much about it)? As far as I can tell, a bunch of volcanoes could buggerize things for years, but we’ve no plans in place about that.
The herd mentality of the IPCC fiasco does little to reassure. While it’s AlGore 24/7, the real problems and threats may be other and elsewhere than the enviroids have in mind. This elf is a warmo-skeptic, but not thence a rape-the-earth capitalist-con who demands absolute freedom for companies to do what they will.
Meanwhile– in Canada and elsewhere– the discrediting of the hockey-stick graph and the bad science and worse politics and media bias behind it hasn’t really begun to penetrate society, let alone our Federal government, which deflected the worst of the Copenhagen master-plans but is still talking about carbon dioxide emissions and global warming. How 2006.
Sadly, the popular perception of the role of solar weather in the corresponding earth climate is not a hot news item, nor sunspots, nor the fact that CO2 rises in correlation with rising solar activity. Few sunspots? = colder weather, less CO2, different and sometimes strange climate effects. Again, why are some glaciers growing, others declining, as other reports talk about less polar ice, and harsher colder winters. Is this cyclical? Novel? Precedented?
Meanwhile, the Ye Olde Farmer’s Almanac predicted a cold hard Winter.. and after a balmy late Fall, much of the Northern hemisphere has indeed gotten bitterly pasted with snow and super-low temps for two months now.. locally, windstorms and blizzards, plus a lot of wind-chill have hit heating bills hard. Look to rising prices for a lot of imported foodstuffs, after cold and frosts in the southern U.S. killed off some crops.
Global warming? Climate change? Brrrr! ~
