Such as the endless chainsaw-songs of my neighbour, who has all the flaws (and appearance) of South Park’s Eric Cartman, but without the charm. He’s suing me to kill two of my trees, but doesn’t have the $$$ to take it to big-boy court. So, he’s decided to take his frustration out on one of his own perfectly healthy large trees, by very slowly dismembering it over the past month, leaving the weeping wounds open to the bugs, the sun, and all the rest, even as the tree tries to bloom in our belated Spring.
It’s kinda horrible, since I like trees, and think that unless there’s an actual problem with one, that chopping them up for fun is kinda mean and cruel and stuff. So on goes the song of his sawing day in and day out, accompanied by the loud radio in his shed, trying to teach me something or other about something.
Makes me sad. Such is not God’s dominion over the earth, but merest will. I pray for my neighbour, though it’s hard to love or like him.

~ THE MORE BINKY looks at the world, the more I agree with Hilary White about The Real. We are becoming a society which has stripes of unreality, with various motives. The essential questions are becoming ever clearer.
On these seemingly simple questions (I stole them from the ancient Greeks), hangs everything. Our responses to these questions– even at the level of gut instinct or common-sense– tells us who we are, and what’s important.
The denial that words mean things, or that truth is impossible to know, or that everything is merely political is a denial of any possible rational society, liberty, commonly agreed law, or even simple conversation. Actually, this is pre-fascist talk (whether Nazi or Communist or some nicer hybrid), forbidding any disagreement with the “accepted public narrative” of Left-leaning elites and people who think that by following them they are doing the right thing and being “open-minded”.
Under all the nice warm words– diversity, equality, community, and all the other little Itys– are thought-controls, forbidding dissent by social pressure, fitting in, conformity, and the idea that if you say something often enough, it becomes true and good.
That’s the world we live in, where trying to tell an unpopular truth becomes an radical act that can cost you your reputation, your FaceBook account, even your job or financial future. In some American universities, academics who fail to line up on the Leftwards side of things will not get tenure, or if they have it, will be fired on the flimsiest of excuses. Labels, slander, misrepresentation, and the politics of personal destruction ensue.
We live in a world where even if things are obvious, or some political situation or news-event seems obvious, people wait around until some authority tells them what to think about it: power makes truth, as it were. That is an abdication of reason, responsibility, and the hard work of thinking about the questions above and trying to apply them to the world– in line with the received and digested wisdom of our Western Civilization, since we’re not the first or most important people ever, just the ones who are currently not dead or yet to be conceived.
Imagine the shock to the sheep– or the ruling wolves– when events and facts and reality intrude on the narrative, the dream-state we’re all supposed to stay in, a la The Matrix.
The real always wins.. we can declare war on reality and be broken by it, or we can align ourselves with the true, the beautiful, the good, the just. There is no other choice, Really. ~
~ OK– ASSUME that the radicals are kinda out to lunch, and wrong-headed and upsidedown, even in some of their decent causes.
Therefore ask yourself this: what kind of things does Political Correctness oppose– and you have a handy-dandy list of very likely good things that are of abiding value, and should be spoken and fought for at all costs.
Because if you look under the rock, ugly critters crawl beneath political correctness… like totalitarianism, thought and speech & behaviour control, bad and impractical and bizarre ideas that cost endless money and good will and even human lives. Political and social experimentation creates madness, death, and endless untold and entirely forseeable consequences.
God. Especially the God & Jesus religion.
Family. Especially man, wife, lotsa kids type.
Patriotism. Especially the reasonable, but determined kind.
Decency. You know, that there ARE moral and spiritual and other standards for action and thinking, other than what you`re sold on TV, the internet, comercialism, or the Left Wing activist sort.
Caution. Sometimes you have to be hasty.. most other times, it`s a good way to end up down a wrong road.
Minding Your Own Business. The nanny-state wants to eat you.
Capitalism. Even though it funds left-wing swivel-eyed loony-ism, it’s bad.
Adoption. Pill & abortion are holy.
Reason. You know, true, false, thinking, intelligent disagreement. Common-sense.
Facts. Facts are hard, but feeling are soft!
I can and do go on and on, but that’s where we are. So do a mental head-stand, look at the world being foisted on us by too many elites & chattering-class sheep, and notice that there are a lot of good things being hammered and attacked, and a lot of half-baked bad ideas getting too much support.
