<p>On <strong>Thursday, June 2 at approximately 3:30 p.m. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will announce a public-private partnership with the M•A•C AIDS Fund to expand critical medical and emergency support services for survivors of rape and sexual assault in South Africa.</strong></p>
<p><strong>The announcement will be streamed live on <a href="http://www.state.gov/">www.state.gov</a>.</strong></p>
<p>Because of South Africa’s high HIV prevalence, survivors of sexual violence are at high risk of becoming infected with HIV/AIDS. Evidence has also shown that women living with HIV/AIDS are at higher risk of experiencing violence. Secretary Clinton and representatives from the M•A•C AIDS Fund will discuss how this ground breaking partnership will empower South African women by providing greater access to medical care including HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment programs, psychosocial services and legal assistance.</p>
