I tied these tonight and felt discomboobliated….my system was off and I flitted from one pattern to another rather than turning out a dozen of one pattern. Frankly, I would be a terrible production tyer, because after one box of hooks, 25 let’s say, I am in a daze, stupor, slump. I do it but not often. Last year I tied a bunch of my experimental ORB fly for Callibaetis (query ‘The Orb’). I also tied a bunch of Damsels, Dragons and PTN. So, tonight I turned out a funky looking Caddis Larva/Pupa of sorts and several nice wets in the size 14 sphere. The wets were on the the curved shank pupa hook and I dubbed the thorax with peacock Ice Dub. Starling was used for the wing and the bodies were of thread with a very thin wire ribbing or one strand of Krystal flash (thin tinsel). The Larva or Pupa Caddis was a size 10 hook and I used the latex strip to wrap a body over a lead under body and then dubbed the thorax area with spiky brown and black dub.

No, nothing too unique here. Basic fish catching patterns. The wets are standard to what I normally have tied the last few years…a variation of the Stella’s Seducer Wet. I like these and the Harriett Pupa Pattern I posted last year. The chunky, clunky Green Bean tumbled through a riffle will catch fish…all these are simple to tie. Now if I could sit down and tie a bunch of one of them….but, almost time to go to bed. You can query here for The Orb, Stella’s Seducer and the Harriett Pupa for pics.
