Bead Rattle Fly Design

Was checking out Jean Paul Lipton on Facebook. He was posting re Gar and highlighted a site that set out how to create flies for Gar. One of the side bars was a 2000 piece in Fly Tyer magazine re Bead Rattle Flies. I wonder if anyone has stripped and jerked this type of pattern to recent success since the author, Kent Edmonds, touted their worthiness.  Kent remarked that the fly design was attractive to a variety of freshwater fish. I imagine the key points are the wire rear anchor point must be secure and what type of beads to use to getting that proper snapping.
