While fishing at Christmas Island (Kiritamati), I wore ill fitting flats boots. Abrasion from sand/grit wore several wounds on my left foot. That plus having to wade in sewage/bacteria filled water to board/exit the boats back at camp ultimately caused strep pyogenes in the top of my left foot.
