This time around I am  also going to write about Indian Wear for women. After all, I wear that and fusion clothing most of the times. By fusion I mean something that is not purely ethnic and Indian, but a mix of Indian and western influences both. Before starting let me introduce my fellow bloggers to some terminology we use in our clothes.

1) KURTA. A loose collarless shirt worn by people from South Asia, usually with a salwar, churidars, or pyjama.

A kurta  (also kurti for a shorter version for women) is a traditional item of clothing worn in Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. It is a loose shirt falling either just above or somewhere below the knees of the wearer, and is worn by men. They were traditionally worn with loose-fitting paijama (kurta-paijama), loose-fitting shalwars, semi-tight (loose from the waist to the knees, and tight from the calves to the ankles churidars, or wrapped-around dhotis but are now also worn with jeans.Kurtas are worn both as casual everyday wear and as formal dress.

2) SALWAR.

 A shalwar kameez, also spelled salwar kameez or shalwar qameez, is a traditional dress of SOUTH ASIA. It is worn by men and women in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Shalwar are loose pyjama like trousers.. The legs are wide at the top, and narrow at the ankle. The kameez is a long shirt or tunic, often with a western-style collar.

3) CHURIDARS.

Churidars or churidar pyjamas ,are tightly fitting trousers worn by both men and women in South Asia. Churidars are a variant of the common salwar pants. Salwars are cut wide at the top and narrow at the ankle. Churidars narrow more quickly, so that contours of the leg are revealed. They are usually cut on the bias, making them naturally stretchy. Stretch is important when pants are closefitting. They are also longer than the leg and sometimes finish with a tightly fitting buttoned cuff at the ankle. The excess length falls into folds and appears like a set of bangles resting on the ankle .

3) DUPATTA.

A dupatta is traditionally worn across both shoulders. However, the dupatta can be worn like a cape around the entire torso. The material for the dupatta varies according to the suit: cotton, Georgette, silk, chiffon, and more. A length of material worn arranged in two folds over the chest and thrown back around the shoulders, typically with a salwar kameez. Can be draped in a number of ways.
