<![CDATA[The Last of Us Sequel could revisit the outbreak; Hints Naughty Dog]]>The Last of Us came out last year to critical acclaim with the story of Joel & Ellie as they traveled across the Beautiful (& Hostile) remains of the United States of America after a deadly viral outbreak that subjected unfortunate people to a fungal virus turning them into the cannibalistic clickers. The game was a huge success and proved survival horror can still (Pardon the Pun) Survive.

In the game players saw the early stages of the outbreak in the prologue with the main game taking place in the aftermath of the events in the prologue but the actual outbreak wasn’t covered as a conscious decision from developer Naughty Dog, according to the studio’s Eric Monacelli, who talked with fans on the PS blog. “That was a design decision. Not sure if we’ll ever revisit the outbreak itself but we certainly left that narrative space open.”

Whether this means we will see the outbreak in a possible sequel or not, It is surely interesting that he mentioned that the narrative is still open; Maybe we will see a prequel with a younger Joel? As of this moment it is unknown if a sequel will be released for The Last of Us however it is highly likely considering the game’s success and the fact that Sony registered the domain names for “The Last of Us 2” & “The Last of Us 3”.
