Developed by Capcom

Published by Nintendo

The Story:

You are X a Reploid who is tasked with defeating the mavericks a group of animal like machines in order to find the location of sigma who like X is also a Reploid, Megaman X doesn’t have much in the story department so there isn’t a lot to say about it so I’ll just move on.

The Gameplay:

Megaman X is a side scrolling shooter where you proceed through stages in any order and eventually beat the boss at the end, the gameplay is very well done you can attack with normal shots or charge up for a more powerful blast, there are lots of secrets to be found in each stage most of these are upgrades to your health bar or tanks in which you can fill to restore your health but the other upgrades are more interesting these are suit upgrades which can give you extra armour or even the hadouken attack from street fighter, the bosses are very well done in megaman X they all have specific patterns and on the first playthrough they are pretty difficult but if you can defeat them you can get their weapons which can be used then on other bosses and some will be weak to other boss weapons.

The Sound:

Definitely X’s best asset the soundtrack in Megaman X is one of the best ever the stage themes are all very fast paced and always manage to get me pumped, boomer kuwangers stage theme is one of the best themes i’ve ever heard in games as this is a SNES game there is no voice acting to speak of so I’ll move on.

The Graphics:

Megaman X is a very pretty looking game the stages all look great and enemy designs are well done X himself gets small appearance changes with the more upgrades you get him the bosses all look cool as they are mainly based off of animals the game also runs very quickly with almost no slow down at all.

Lasting Appeal:

X isn’t the longest game in the world if you know what you’re doing it’ll take around 2 hours usually, but the game is so fun I’ll come back to it regularly anyway.

Megaman X is one of the best games ever made the gameplay is addicting the soundtrack is phenomenal and the graphics are very nice.

My Score – 9.8/10
