The Story:
Something’s rotten in the land of the dead, and you’re being played for a sucker. Meet Manny Calavera, travel agent at the Department of Death. He sells luxury packages to souls on their four-year journey to eternal rest. But there’s trouble in paradise; As Manny untangles himself from a conspiracy that threatens his very salvation.
The Gameplay:
Great Gameplay considering its just a remaster, I didn’t get the chance to play the original but if I could; I would of enjoyed it but with not having the chance, I don’t know what to say. It was quite a hard game for me to do and the only way I got through it was with the help of the internet. The game is more heavily reliant on storytelling rather than gameplay with the game being a puzzle title with highly complex puzzles to solve. Most of the game revolves around finding items in the world which can help you progress through the story. The option to choose regular controls or tank controls was interesting however the driving sections were terrible.
The Sound:
The sound was great considering this game is pretty old, the sound seems as up to date as the gameplay. The sound was perfect for the setting of the game not dark but funny and old fashion which suited the setting of the game. In addition to this, the characters voice actors were perfect.
The Graphics:
This is where there was a downfall for me, the graphics didn’t seem all that good considering its a remaster. I tried to check the differences between the old style and the new style but I couldn’t see any difference in visuals and most of the characters actually looked a lot worse for me in the remastered version.
Lasting Appeal:
I would love to be able to play the original, when I could expect the graphics to look better then it does, now I know that its harsh, but I don’t know what they have changed in the remaster version. In my opinion I wouldn’t buy the game but that’s because I didn’t like the game as much as I thought I would but it did have some good elements included, but overall it’s just not my sort of game.
Final Thoughts:
It is much easier to do with a mouse and keyboard than having to use a controller, despite being raised on a controller all my life but this game is a lot simpler and easier to complete using the keyboard and mouse.
