As alluded to previously, Madrid on presented “Project Haiti: Construction the Future” on Friday in the Bernabéu. The Madrid players present at the act were three of the captains, Raúl, Sergio & Iker.

According to Florentino Pérez, Real Madrid will finance the reconstruction of the St. Gerald School, which is located in the Carrefour-Feuilles neighborhood of Port-au-Prince, and which was destroyed in the earthquake. Additionally, they will build a social and football academy in which children will receive food and healthcare. This will be done with the help of the Real Madrid Foundation and the “Acoger y Compartir” Foundation. The school was originally built by the “Acoger y Compartir” Foundation, and close to 1,200 children were enrolled in it. Some 300 children were trapped in the rubble of the school when it collapsed.

Real Madrid has been doing good works in Haiti since 2004 via its Foundation. They have distributed sporting goods and collaborated with local NGOs.
