The boys have already done their back to school shopping, and this is what they got! New shirts!
I absolutely adore the advertisement adidas created for Real Madrid’s 2012-13 kits, because it features footballers stripping! And in the case of Iker, he was not wearing a layer underneath! A momentous occasion indeed! But would that be considered false advertising since we all know it doesn’t happen in real life?
The new shirts for the 2012-13 season came out today (check out up close photos of the shirts themselves here or here), and are already available for purchase. Too bad Xabi Alonso is not included in the price (that would be the best bargain ever!).
The first kit is of course white, with navy and turquoise accents, and vertical lines. It’s supposed to have a “retro” air and Xabi Alonso/Esteban Granero the “vee” neckline is described by adidas as “elegant” and “seasonless.”
I bet Karim loved the opportunity to pose awkwardly and get paid for it! And notice the similarities in how Xabi and Esteban posed?
The second kit has a “navy blue” base (though it looks a deep purple or aubergine in some of the photos) with bright yellow accents, and also has vertical lines, though the collar is round. It’s rumored that the third kit will be green, after the success of the red one last year. For both shirts, the sleeves also have a special patch celebrating the 110 years of the club.
As for Iker, he’s going back to orange and black, much like the 2009-10 season (meaning he’ll be a carrot again), and I expect he’ll also debut a third color at some point in the season.
I like the colors that were chosen for the accents (although I would like to see a return to an almost pure white shirt, with no sponsor logo), but I don’t like the vertical lines at all. This time around, I also approve of the font used to write the names and numbers, unlike several seasons ago.

Karim knows the escudo is where it’s at!
And as you can see, the tagline of the campaign is “we all play.”
I prefer what it says in the small print in the ad, ¡libera tu madridismo! That will be my motto for the next season.
