What technology projects are scheduled for the rest of this school year?

Fairmeadows
Replacement of desktop computers at FM was just recently completed.
Replacement of the classroom projectors are still in progress and should be finished within the next 7 to 10 days.

Westridge
Replacement of the desktop computers are in progress right now.
Replacement of the classroom projectors will begin in the next few week.

Western Hills
Replacement of the desktop computers will take place during the month of December.
Replacement of the classroom projectors will begin after the new desktops are installed.

Walnut Creek Campus
Replacement of the desktop computers will take place during the month of December.
Replacement of the classroom projectors will begin after the new desktops are installed.

Valley High School
Replacement of the desktop computers will start sometime after Jan 1st.
Replacement of the classroom projectors will begin after the new desktops are installed, potentially late winter/early spring.

Staff laptops
Staff laptops will be replaced starting in Feb 2018. There will be multiple sessions available for staff to exchange their old laptop for a new staff laptop.  More information will be available after winter break.

Jan & Feb Canvas Training
During the Jan (elementary) and Feb (secondary) PD day, we’ll be hosting more sessions on using Canvas.  Each PD day will feature more workshops (3 hour blocks that include training and worktime) and also short sharing sessions where  you can hear how other WDMCS teachers are using Canvas in their classroom.

Stilwell & Indian Hills
It’s not scheduled yet, but this winter we’ll be replacing the student chromebooks at IH and ST, as they are currently using the oldest chromebooks in the distict.  More details will be available after winter break.

Other District projects

Firewall Replacement
During the month of December, we’ll be working on replacing the district’s firewall and increasing our internet bandwidth from 1.5Gb to 2Gb.

Identity management system
This winter/spring, we’ll be replacing our identity management system (system that automatically creates all student accounts).  The current product is at end of life.  The replacement product has been selected and plans are being finalized for moving to the new product this spring.

Wireless controller
We are adding a second, redundant wireless controller during the month of December.
