The Western Australia Party has nominated former Mosman Park Mayor & Councillor, RON NORRIS to stand for the seat of Cottesloe in the 17 March 2018 by-election to replace retired member and former premier Colin Barnett.
Western Australia Party identifies the Seat of Cottesloe as having an important role in keeping up the pressure on the State and Federal Government to fix the GST revenue for Western Australia to fund important Local issues requiring action:

Formed in 2016, the WESTERN AUSTRALIA PARTY is the only party registered with the WA Electoral Commission with the sole purpose of representing the people of WA to get a better deal from Canberra.
The formation of the Party is inspired by the original Western Australian Party that operated from 1906 to 1909 to protect the rights of Western Australia, led by Sir John Forrest the first Premier of WA in 1890.
Our State has been held to economic ransom by political parties controlled from Canberra! Parliamentarians fear they will lose the support of their party if they cross the floor and vote for Western Australia’s fair share of taxes.
Significant amounts of taxes are paid to Canberra by the people of WA with little in return. Take for example the GST. The national pool is $63 billion. WA has 11% of Australia’s population so it should receive $7 billion per year. Instead WA only receives $2.3 billion under the current formula to distribute “GST welfare” taxes to the states
While WA digs up every mineral and harvests every inch of arable land, the rest of Australia lives on “GST welfare” paid by hard-working Western Australians.
“The Commonwealth Government received tax revenue of $432 billion (year to Nov 2017) from all states, yet WA only received $8.3 billion or 1.9% including $2.3 billion in GST!”
Canberra’s economic ransom over WA has caused the State Government to raise taxes and charges which are crippling WA’s economy, investment, small business and family budgets.
The ONLY solution is to win the balance of power at the next Federal Election by electing Western Australians to represent WA, not political parties controlled from Canberra.
